The Cellulite Investigation went online in September 2009, but Valentine’s Day 2012 marks the birthday of a new phase in our project.
It’s the day CI officially became The Cellulite Investigation, LLC!
Why Turn The Cellulite Investigation into an LLC?
LLC stands for Limited Liability Company. It basically limits the amount for which I could be held liable if someone decides to take legal action against me for anything related to the website.
For example, if someone started dry brushing and the next day came down with a crippling case of fetal alcohol syndrome, they could only sue me for the assets that belong to the LLC. They could not take my personal savings, my house, etc.
It’s basically a way for me to cover my own behind. (Insert silly cellulite pun here.)
Logo Needed for The Cellulite Investigation, LLC: Please Help!
I wanted to give CI, LLC a nice birthday present to celebrate the special occasion. One thing that is glaringly missing from the site is a logo. I like the art we’ve displayed in the header for the last year—it’s hard to top Botticelli and Picasso—but it would be nice to have an attractive logo that helps provide a unique identity for our efforts investigating cellulite.
At 99designs.com, you can launch a contest where a bunch of graphic designers compete to design your logo. I launched our contest on Saturday and it will run for one week. The prize is $295 which is the most I’ve ever spent on any single item for the blog, including all the different cellulite treatments I’ve tried!
Here are the top entries that have been submitted so far. I would love your feedback on this. Please vote or leave comments on the entries so far!
Several of the initial designs are on the right track, but there’s nothing that has convinced me to “guarantee” the contest. When a contest is guaranteed (meaning you forfeit your ability to not choose a winner), it’s supposed to attract more designers to the contest.
Do you have any suggestions for what you would like to see in a logo for The Cellulite Investigation? I want to see something beautiful, classic, and relaxing—something that invokes images of nature or makes you feel like you just stepped into a luxury spa. What about you?
Are you battling the blight solo? Cellulite investigating is much more fun (and effective) when you're not going at it alone. Come join the conversation in our discussion forum.

Does the logo have to be pink? I like pink but I think some other colors might also look good.
No, it doesn’t have to be pink. They’re just using that because it’s the color I have on the website. Not too late to change it. What colors would you like to see? Do you think we should put something with pink or scrap it altogether?
Sorry to say, I used to be involved in art and I don’t like any of the designs. Nor do I like the pink. I hope that if you wait, you’ll get more–and better–designs!
If you don’t get anything from the contest, I can offer you a recommendation for someone who can do a very nice job for a lot less money.
Thanks, Barb. I might take you up on that! I still haven’t seen anything that would cause me to guarantee the contest.

Are there certain colors you think would be better?
All the ones I see via the above link look like cliche women’s stuff, i.e. spa sites or tampon/pad ads. It’s like someone took the elements out of a clipart collection under heading “women,” “feminine,” or the like. Tacky!
I completely agree with you, herama! I am repelled by all those logos. Consider a color that speaks closer to nature is that is the vibe our wish to conger. Pink and turquoise seem to miss the mark.
Point taken. I like the ones that have some green thrown into the mix. I don’t know if I could completely abandon the pink, though!
For example, note the logo for the following site:
chiefmaxi.wordpress.com/page/2/
Is this really a look you want for the CI?
You just sent me on a tangent reading about Sexy Period. What a cool company! Anywho, you are right on as usual. I still haven’t been able to find a logo that really fits The Cellulite Investigation. The ones in round two are significantly better, but I still haven’t found anything that is exactly right. Any thoughts on these? I actually like the one with the magnifying glass the best, only I asked him to put a different graphic in the middle. Haven’t heard back yet. http://99designs.com/logo-design/vote-oc5p5q
So, I was actually searching for a tampon/feminine hygiene product that I’m SURE I’ve seen before that has that female/hair figure. I know, know, KNOW I’ve seen it before and I’m sure it was related to either douches/pads/tampons or something else in “that” aisle. Still can’t find it. Great way to avoid studying and work, though!
I love the pink on your website. And I would keep the logo pink to keep that theme. I really like #50. It has the feel of the website for me. The sleuth aspect, and I think it’s simple and pleasing to the eye. A logo is supposed to give you the gist of something in one look, and it does just that. The ones with a generic female form are ok too, I just wasn’t extremely crazy about any one in particular. Good luck! What a difficult decision!
Thanks, Laura. It is a tough decision. Right now I’m thinking I will have to cancel the contest. Maybe I will be better enough finding a graphic designer I can discuss the logo with during the design process instead of trying to do it all online.
