Ask the Guru: Confused by How to Start Treating Cellulite? Try this Morning Anti-Cellulite Drink

by Melissa on December 8, 2009

I’ve had cellulite for decades. In spite of any effort to get rid of it, it continually gets worse.  I’m overweight, too tired to exercise, and to be honest, I’m not too optimistic that my cellulite will ever be any better.  Do you have any recommendations for someone like me?

*****

Dear Cellulite Investigation Readers,

Tackling your cellulite can feel overwhelming at first.  If a client comes to me in a toxic, overweight state, I tell her to start her cellulite treatment with one simple step: drink apple cider vinegar and honey every morning for a month.  That’s it. A lot of people say “oh my goodness, my grandmother did that… or my great aunt…”  These are things we used to know, our mothers used to tell us and our grandmothers used to tell us, but we’ve forgotten.

For a morning anti-cellulite drink, pour a spoonful of apple cider vinegar into a large mug.  Add an equal amount of honey and top with hot water.  Apple cider vinegar is like wine, the better the quality, the better the taste (darker is better, too. The pale yellow ones don’t taste as good and are harsh on the palate.)  At first you might find the tartness of the vinegar too much for pleasant morning drinking, so start with smaller amounts of vinegar and build up.  Most people take to it quite well and love it. Others, not so much.  It’s just a matter of taste, really.  If you can’t stand apple cider vinegar, you can replace it with freshly squeezed lemon.

Do you think kombucha vinegar would work in place of the apple cider vinegar? Please enter my name in the giveaway. Thanks!

Kim, Leah, thanks for entering the giveaway! I've never heard of drinking warm kombucha or kombucha with honey. But your question got me thinking because ACV and kombucha do seem to be quite similar. I found this thread through google:

Kombucha Tea vs. Apple Cider Vinegar

The main difference I can think of is that ACV is more acidic (which is why it has to be diluted) and the kombucha is milder with more probiotic properties. Personally, I drink them both. I will ask Bron if she has any more info on this. Thanks for a great question!

I'd love to get my hands on some raw honey. Aside from the health factor, I love the flavor. Yummy!

Me too, Jelli Bean! My name (Melissa) is from the Greek for honeybee. I've often wondered if there is any correlation… :)

I start my day with this kind of drink. I squeeze half of a lemon over a mug for the juice, then I add 1 Tbsp. of Bragg's Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, then some hot water until the mug is filled, and I add a little raw honey.

Sure thing, welcome to CI!

For all you Anonymous-es out there, it might help to leave a username of some sort so it is easier to identify the winner. Otherwise we could end up with a honey showdown… Actually, that could be interesting.

My mom takes acv pills. They made me really gross, and smelly. I wonder if drinking it would be any diffrent. I use it for salad dressings all the time….I may have to try this tomorrow!

The pills made you smell like ACV? How funny. Bron recommends the pills if you can't stand the taste of the real thing. I've talked to a few people who didn't know to dilute it, so perhaps that's a common misunderstanding. I took a swig straight once after a case of food poisoning in Tunisia. Not nearly as pleasant a taste, but it did make me feel better for awhile. Thanks for entering the giveaway, Rosy.

Another benefit I've noticed from drinking ACV and honey: my hair is fabulous! It is soooo shiny and soft! I have in the past used ACV as a conditioner, like in the olden days, and though it made my hair feel wonderful, I always worried that it made me smell like a chip stand (Canadian reference to roadside "wagons" that sell fresh, hot french fries, which Canadians then douse in vinegar and salt–an acquired taste!). Lately, though, I've noticed this about my hair, and I think it's because of my morning ACV and honey drink.

What a lovely side effect! I love noticing little improvements like that when you treat the body holistically. Bron often "warns" her clients that one of the most common side effects of her treatment plan is weight loss! Isn't it wonderful that when you're doing something good for your body, it will respond in pleasant ways you didn't expect? Quite a contrast from the regular side effects of conventional medicine. Thanks for letting us know about your ACV success!
