Our intrepid cellulite analyst recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by Ben Leonard, the creator of The Complete Body, a fascinating blog about body optimization. A former competitive runner, Ben’s thoughtful posts often extend beyond the mechanics of the body to issues of beauty and physical attraction. (CI readers might be interested in his post about why many of the girls Ben sees around campus are more attractive than supermodel Karolina Kurkova. Yeah, he’s kindof a hero like that.)
As most good conversationalists will do, Ben’s intriguing interview questions left me with some questions of my own. This might sound silly once I put it in writing, but I never thought of the Cellulite Investigation as a blog about beauty. I agree that health is beautiful; I agree that things like cellulite and acne are signs of impaired health. But does that mean cellulite is a beauty issue?
If so, what about other skin conditions? Is psoriasis a beauty issue? Or eczema? Those conditions certainly aren’t attractive, but they are firmly entrenched in the “health issue” category. Why is cellulite considered a beauty issue? Should it be?

Thanks for the interview. I really enjoyed our discussion myself and learned quite a lot. Interviews like this are one of my favorite things about blogging.
My pleasure, Ben!
