In recent cellulite-related news, a BBC headline caught ANALYST’s attention: “Larger Thighs ‘May Protect Heart.’”
Based on a study published in the British Journal of Medicine, researchers found that people with small thighs (under 55cm in circumference) had twice the risk of early death or serious health problems. The relationship remained consistent even when body fat, smoking, and blood cholesterol levels were all taken into account. Experts hypothesized that narrow thighs could be associated with insufficient muscle mass and, therefore, increased susceptibility to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
The study followed 3,000 men and women in Copenhagen for over ten years. For a more humerous take on the results, check out Kate Harding’s article on Salon.com, “Thunder Thighs May Be Good For You.”

Sounds like a pretty weak study. Nonetheless, it does make me feel better about my thunder-thighs.
Funny how the brain works that way, huh. I guess we'll take any validation we can get! I thought the study was interesting because it highlighted the problem of being underweight, which you don't hear a lot about these days. Tosca Reno mentioned it in The Butt Book, too. Just because you're thin, it doesn't mean you're at a good weight.
